Telos Model Dimension

Depression does not only make people feel low. It often alters what the future is for.

That is why it can produce not only sadness, but directional collapse. The person may still know what matters in abstraction. What weakens is the live organizing force of the end itself.

When telos weakens, commitment weakens. Nothing feels worth the effort of closure. Nothing appears charged with enough good to warrant movement.

This is one reason depression cannot be reduced to emotion alone. It is often a structural distortion of directionality.
